Connect a source

QuickBooks, Xero, Stripe and the catalog. Read-only, synced once or twice a day.

Before you start

You need a Compass company and a role with the Manage connections right. A trial covers one source: all the files you upload count as one, and each connected app, bank feed or AI server is one.

Open Integrations from the navigation bar. Connected sources sit at the top, the catalog below them. Compass only ever reads from a source.

Direct connections

  1. Pick QuickBooks or Xero in the catalog and press Connect.
  2. You are sent to sign in there and approve access, then land back in Compass.
  3. QuickBooks starts its first import at once and shows progress on its card. Xero shows a live preview first: pick the data types you want and press Import.
  4. From then on, QuickBooks syncs once a day and Xero twice a day. Sync Now on either card runs one at any time.

Catalog connections

  1. Pick a connector in the catalog. Most ask for an API key, some sign you in with OAuth instead, and a few offer both.
  2. For a key, follow the setup guide in the dialog, paste the key and press Connect.
  3. Compass fetches a live preview. Choose which data types to send to Numbers and press Import. The import only starts when you press it.
  4. Manage on the card lets you turn data types on or off later. Turning one off stops future syncs, and data already in Numbers stays.

What syncs, and when

QuickBooks fills your ledger in Compass and syncs once a day, in the early morning.

Catalog connections land in Numbers, and some add Knowledge entries too. They sync twice a day by default, early morning and mid-afternoon. In Manage you can switch a connection to Daily or Manual only.

Each card shows when it last synced, and Sync Now runs one at any time. Disconnecting stops syncing, and data already in Numbers stays.
