Fair questions

What does "checked against the books" mean?
Compass AI works out each number from the client's books with plain arithmetic, with no AI involved. Every figure in a draft or an answer is compared with that number and gets four checks: traced to your data, matches your data, right period, right sign and scale. The same checks run on figures you or your team type into a draft. Each time new data lands, Stripe, Square and bank files are compared with the books too. A figure Compass AI can't trace says Not traced, and a check that could not run says why. Open any figure to see its definition, inputs and source rows. How Checks work →
Do I need Claude or ChatGPT?
Compass AI has an assistant built in, running on Claude. If you already work in Claude or ChatGPT, connect it once and it answers from the same numbers, with every read on the record.
Where does my data live, and who can see it?
Companies in the US and Canada are stored in AWS in the US, and every other company in AWS in the EU. Compass AI connects to your systems read-only. The AI inside Compass AI runs on Claude through AWS Bedrock, which doesn't use your data to train models. An outside AI sees a client's data only when you connect one, scoped to that company and revocable, and every read lands in that company's record. See Security →
