Your dashboard is, in essence, the command center of Compass AI. It's the first page you'll see after completing onboarding and where you'll land each time you log in. This is where we provide you with a comprehensive view of your business’s financial health.
Rather than forcing you to dig through reports and spreadsheets, Compass AI automatically creates relevant widgets and displays them on your main dashboard - charts, graphs, and metrics - based on your connected data. If you’re on a trial and you’ve yet to connect your data, then the dashboard displays preset demo data so that you can still explore the platform’s capabilities.
Understanding & Managing Your Widgets
Widgets are the visual building blocks of your dashboard. Each widget presents a specific aspect of your financial data, such as income trends over the last 12 months, top expense categories, cash balance evolution, or net burn rate.
Note: When running Compass AI for the first time, users will be able to personalize their experience through our AI onboarding. This will help you tailor your dashboard with custom alerts and widgets.
Every widget on your dashboard includes a three-dot menu in the corner that gives you an option to dig deeper into the widget:
“Expand Details” opens a detailed view with two tabs. The Details tab shows you all the underlying data that creates the widget - individual invoices, bills, transactions, and other source information. This transparency lets you verify accuracy and understand exactly what's driving the numbers. The Insights tab helps you understand the widget by pointing out the impact of the widget itself. It’s split into strengths and weaknesses, along with a few suggested actions. The Insight tab is also made easily accessible as it is also displayed directly within the menu.
Edit allows you to customize the widget using natural language prompts. Simply describe how you want to adjust the visualization, timeframe, or data shown, and Compass's AI adapts the widget to match your request.
Delete removes the widget from your dashboard entirely. This is useful for clearing out visualizations that are no longer relevant to your current priorities and keeping your dashboard focused on what matters most.

Creating New Widgets
Beyond the automatically generated widgets, you can create custom visualizations — including pie, line and multi-line charts, along with bar, multi-bar and stacked bar charts — by clicking the plus sign on your dashboard, or by interacting with our AI at the top of the dashboard. Creating a new widget through the AI assistant is as simple as describing what you want to see in plain English.

Example prompts for new widgets:
- "Show me how much we're spending on software subscriptions each month"
- "Create a chart comparing revenue growth quarter over quarter"
- "Display our customer acquisition cost trend over the last 6 months"
- "Show all due invoices over the past 2 months"
Compass AI interprets your request, identifies the relevant data, and generates an appropriate visualization that answers your question. You can then refine it further using the Edit option if needed.
